U.S. Congressman. Born in Orange, New Jersey, he graduated from Princeton College in 1795, engaged in mercantile pursuits in Newark, New Jersey and was the son of US Senator John Condit. He was clerk of Essex County (1804-11), a member of the New Jersey General Assembly (1812-13, 1816) and Sheriff of Essex County, (1813-16). He also served in the New Jersey Legislative Council, (1819-22). In 1831, he was elected as an Anti-Jacksonian to the Twenty-second Congress, serving until 1833. After his term, he was president of the Newark Banking Compnay, until 1842. He died at age 83 in Newark, New Jersey.
