Alfred C. Hempfling

Alfred C. Hempfling, 66, of West Sunbury died at 1:10 p.m Sunday at his home after a long illness.

Born Dec. 11, 1934 in Butler, he was the son of Alfred C. Hempfling and Ralph and Geraldine Fisher Mortimer.

He had retired from Pullman Standard.

Mr. Hempfling enjoyed fishing, hunting and painting and was known for his artwork, which sold in Pennsylvania, Ohio and North Carolina.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survining are a daughter, Mrs. Randy (Sheryl) Simpson of Williamsburg, Va.; three sons, Richard R. Hempfling of Petrolia, Alan J. Hempfling of West Sunbury and Robert J. Hempfling of Slippery Roack; and six grandchidren. Two brothers, John Mortimer of butler and Richard Mortimer of Pittsburgh, and a number nieces and nephews also survive.

His wife, Bebe E. Brown Hempfling, whom he married Feb. 13, 1956, died Jan. 15, 1997. Three sisters also preceded him in death.

Friends of Alfred C. Hempfling, who died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, will be received at Young Funeral Home, West Sunbury. A blessing service will be held Wednesday at the funeral hom. Burial will be at West Sunbury Cemetery.

The Moniteau Ceremonial Squad will accord graveside military honors.
