Born July 28, 1923 in Pemiscot County, he is the son of the late Jim Whitehead and Navada Stillwell Whitehead.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Willie Dean Whitehead; three brothers, Jimmy, Woodrow and Calvin Whitehead; two sisters, Flora Bradfield and Pauline Arnold; and two grandsons, Ronald Keith Morrison and Christopher Crites.
Willie was united in marriage to Mabel Edwards on May 2, 1953. She preceded him in death.
He was of the Nazarene Faith and worked for Simmons Metal Works. He did gin work and farm labor before retirement.
Mr. Whitehead leaves five daughters; Marsha Morrison of Kennett, Denise Wheeler of Hayti, Judy Crites of Beth Page, Tenn., Brenda Lucas of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., and Rhonda Whitehead of Steele; One sister, Juanita Jones, of Steele; Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mr. Whitehead were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 22, at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
Pallbearers were Drew Morrison, Daniel Crites, Justin Lucas, Calvin Hicks, Aaron Morrison and William Wheeler.
