Restaurateur Nikola Rasic
Restaurateur Nikola Rasic, whose eating establishments in Los Angeles have been a favorite gathering spot for politicians and businessmen for half a century, died Friday at his home in Los Angeles. He was 94.
He opened Nikola's, featuring Yugoslavian cooking, at 1449 W. Sunset Blvd. in 1956. Earlier, he had operated Nick's Café on Sunset, after obtaining one of the first liquor licenses issued in Los Angeles after Prohibition.
He leaves his wife, Eva (Iva),; sons, Walter, Pete, John and Nick and 20 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to a scholarship fund to be established in his name at Loyola High School.
