One of seven children born to farmer William Smith Crosby and his wife, Abigail Trickey in Orneville, Maine, "Grandpa Frank" became a river driver and later a mill worker for the Great Northern Paper Company. He eloped with his next-door neighbor, Helen Ruth Lee of Bradford, Maine, with whom he had nine children. Devoutly religious in later life and a true patriarch of our branch of the Crosby clan.
