He was co-owner of the Coleman-Murray Furniture Company at 221 South Staples and prior to that had established the R. H. Coleman Furniture Company and had worked in Waco.

Surviving were his wife, Vivian; three daughters, Mrs. Jack Mitchell of Tyler, Texas, Mrs. Frank L. Bonney and Mrs. Elmo Blake of Corpus Christi; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Jack W. Eastham of Odessa, Texas and Mrs. W. B. Castleberry of Harlingen; and a sister, Mrs. R. R. McAnelly of San Antonio, Texas.
