Wendell Gene Fox, 79, of Joshua, a retired Lockheed engineer, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: at a later date in Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Texas Dental Association Smiles Foundation, 1946 S. Interstate 35, Suite 300, Austin, Texas 78704, www.tdasf.org.

Wendell was born Jan. 5, 1932, in Ashland, Kan., to Roy Lee and Ruth Wright Fox. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Wendell loved golf, gardening, airplanes and computers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carllene Westcott Fox, and his parents.

Survivors: Daughter, Michele Fox of Bedford; son, Steve Fox of Hurst; sisters, Claudette Hensley of Ashland, Kan., Verona Trease of Miami, Okla., Virginia Abbott of Kansas; grandchildren, Chase Brown, Hope Brown, Mark Fox, Rachel Westcott; close and dear friends, Dr. and Mrs. Russell Owens and Patrick and Tracy Jahn along with their children, Leah, Sara, Sophie; and many extended family and friends.
