Found guilty at Nuremberg of war crimes, crimes against humanity and crimes against peace. Before his hanging, his last words were "My last is that Germany realizes its destiny. I wish peace to the world." His remains were cremated in the oven at Dachau concentration camp along with many other Nazi criminals. The ashes were raked out and scattered in Wenzbach/Conwentzbach, a small stream in Munich.
