Hall of Fame Professional Golfer. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, he was dubbed the "Silver Scot" and remains a legendary figure in the golf world to this day. In 1920, he won the French Amateur tournament, then in 1924 moved to America and became a US citizen. He won the US Open in 1927 and at the Shawnee Open that same year, scored the first ever "Archaeopteryx" when he made a 23 on a par 5, for 18-over par, which still stands as the highest score in PGA history. As a professional, he had 25 PGA Tour wins and 3 Major Championship wins. He died at age 73 in Larchmont, New York and was posthumously inducted in the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1976. His Tommy Armour Golf Company produces a quality variety line of accessories, woods and irons.
