Mrs. O. B. Ayres
Annie L., widow of the late Judge O. B. Ayres, an old time resident of Knoxville, died at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, Tuesday, November 16, 1909, aged 62 years, 5 month, 5 days. Death resulted from biliary troubles and from the effects of a surgical operation which was performed for the purpose of removing gallstones. The operation referred to was performed Monday Nov., 8.
Annie Lavina, daughter of Truman and Lavina Stone, was born in Coshocton, Ohio, June 11th, 1847; came to Knoxville with her parents in the year 1855. In the year 1865 [error; should be '1864'], on July 13, she was united in marriage to Orlando B. Ayres, in Knoxville. They continued to reside in this city until 1890, when they removed to Des Moines, and were always recognized as one of the most prominent families, he being a lawyer of note and later a District Judge. Mrs. Ayres was a sister of the late Wm. M. Stone, Governor of Iowa from 1864 to 1868. Mrs. Ayres' total period of residence in Knoxville was upwards of a third of a century, and during all those years of girlhood, young womanhood and as wife and mother there was none more highly respected or more dearly beloved by all of her large circle of friends than the subject of this sketch. For many years she was a member of the Presbyterian church and of the order of the Eastern Star.
To the union of Annie L. Stone with Orlando B. Ayres, ten children were born, all of them are still living. Their names and several places of residence follows: Dr. Edward C. Ayers, Lorimer, Iowa; Mrs. Helen Niles, Des Moines; Mrs. Augusta Hill, Geneseo, Ill.; William S., Des Moines; Orlando B., Jr., Seattle, Wash. [FAG Memorial #5360711]; Dr. Chester A. Ayers, Weldon, Iowa; Sheldon H. Milwaukee, Wis.; and Warren I., Collins, Iowa.
The other near living relatives are her brothers F. M. Stone of Knoxville and Truman Stone of Marshalltown.
Judge O. B. Ayres, the husband and father, died at San Diego, California, March 28, 1900. The remains were brought to Knoxville April 3.
The remains of the late deceased arrived from Des Moines over the Q at 9 o'clock conducted by the pastor Rev. E. Brown. Interment beside the remains of her husband in Graceland cemetery."

Annie's obituary states that there were ten living children from her union with Orlando, but only eight are identified in her obituary; not mentioned were Ransom M. & George N.
