Mary Ellen Seifert (93) formerly of Albion, IL passed away at 1:15 AM, Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville, IN.
She was born March 21, 1916 in Edwards County, IL, the only daughter of George and Blanche Abby. She married Carrol Seifert in Henderson, KY March 27, 1946.
She leaves behind one son, Bruce (Twilla) Seifert of Cowling, IL and one daughter, Carolyn (Rod) Schuh of Ripley, TN. Four grandchildren, Darrell (Cindy) Schuh of Florence, S.C.; Dr. Eric (Nicole) Schuh of Gallatin, TN; LeAnn (Tom) Jackoboice of Nashville, TN; and Dr. Mike (April) Seifert of Boston, MA. She also leaves six great grandchildren; Sam, Erin, Eli and Caroline Schuh and Owen and Lila Jackoboice. One brother, Allen Abby, of Cambridge, OH also survives.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Carrol Seifert; one grandson, Aaron Schuh; and two brothers; Ross Abby, and Clarence Abby.
Except for the last seven years spent in assisted living in Olney and the Wabash Christian Retirement Center, Mary Ellen resided in Edwards County her entire life. She was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Albion.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion from 1:00 until 3:00 PM with services to follow at 3:00 PM. Interment will be at
Graceland Cemetery in Albion.
