Fern E. Longenecker, 93, passed away July 3, 2008, at 9:01 a.m. in her Upper Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, residence. She was the widow of George H. Longenecker, who died October 26, 1989. Born in West Lawn, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Alma (Wickel) Meade. She was a homemaker and loving mother to ten children. She was a member of the Conservative Brethren Church, Millbach, Lebanon County. She is survived by 3 sons, Jerre L. Longenecker, husband of Judith, Thomas G. Longenecker, husband of Joyce, both of Bernville, and Dale E. Longenecker, husband of Joanne of Bethel; and 6 daughters, Rhoda A., wife of David Kegerreis of Bethel, Rita Y., wife of Ray Garber of Chambersburg, Franklin County, Wanda A., widow of Robert Hearn, Donna M., wife of Galen Stauffer, Debra F., wife of Glenn Burkholder, all of Bernville; and Cinda S., wife of Raymond Burkholder of Milan, Bradford County. There is 1 daughter-in-law Darlene, widow of George T. Longenecker, of Bernville. There are also 41 grandchildren, 136 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 10 step great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, George T. Longenecker; 2 sons-in-law, Robert Hearn and Luke Eberly; and 1 grandson, Timothy Eberly; and 1 great-grandson, Clayton Longenecker. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 AM in the Conservative Baptist Brethren Church, Frystown, with Elders Dean St. John, David Kegerreis and Dean Kegerreis officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 to 9:00 PM in Fairview Reception Center, 141 Jackson Road, Jackson Township, Lebanon County, adjacent to Deck Airport and Monday one hour prior to service time in the church. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Blind Assn. of Berks County, 2020 Hampden Blvd., Reading, PA 19604. The Kirkhoff Funeral Home, Bernville, is in charge of arrangements.
