Leonard N Koenig, age 86, of Reedsburg, died on tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. He had been a resident at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk Prairie since August 2009. Leonard was born on Nov 6, 1924 in the Town of Westfield, Sauk County, the son of Albert and Ella (Licht) Koenig.

He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Stone Church where he was active in the Luther League and enjoyed playing on the church dartball team. He also sang in the church choir and especially loved singing familiar hymns all his life.

On Sept 8, 1956, he was married to Doris Slotty at St John's Lutheran Church in Leland. their marriage was blessed with four children. Leonard farmed with his father and brother, Wilbert, until his retirement in 1989. he also enjoyed driving school bus for the Reedsburg School District. In 1990 he moved to Reedsburg and he was then employed by Viking Village as a laundromat attendant for six years. Leonard will be remembered for his friendly smile, twinkle in his eye and keen sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Wilbert; and his sister, Helen Kuchar.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; four children, Connie (Walter) Blahnik, Menomonee Falls, Steven (Patricia) Koenig of Loganville, Debra (Daniel) McGowan of Waunakee and Daniel Koenig of Reedsburg; his grandchildren, Kristina, Alyssa and Jonathan Blahnik, Robert, William and Thomas Koenig, Abigail, Sarah and Jack McGowan; two sisters, Gertrude Leege of Baraboo and Lyda Dorow of Wisconsin Dells; his brother-in-law Harlen (Diane) Slotty of Prairie de Sac; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Church cemetery.
