Story:
One time during the depression when times were hard and families didn't have too much, Victor and Blanche got a call from family in Elmira that they were coming for the weekend. Blanche had potatoes to feed them, but no meat. She couldn't kill one of her chickens because they were laying good and the eggs were income. She asked Victor what they could do. He said not to worry he would take care of it. He went out and killed a woodchuck. She asked "How am I supposed to cook it?" He replied, "Cook it like a chicken." So she par boiled it, drained the water and cooked it some more. Blanche told the children to take only a small piece so company would have enough and not to tell what it was. Percy Harter being a child asked where the "pully" bone was. (He was looking for the wishbone). We all know woodchucks don't have "pully" bones. Needless to say they didn't know they were eating woodchuck. However, years later Marshall did find out. I wonder who told.

Victor died of cancer of the pancreas and stomach.
