Author. She is noted for her bestselling novel "Damage" (1991), which was made into a 1992 motion picture starring Jeremy Irons. Born in Ireland, one of seven children, she was educated at a Catholic boarding school and later moved to London where she worked for Haymarket Publishing, eventually becoming a director there. She turned to producing and helped stage the acclaimed play "The House of Bernarda Alba", which appeared at West End and founded Gallery Poets, before initiating her career as a novelist with "Damage". Her other known works include "Sin" (1995), "Oblivion" (1995), "The Stillest Day" (1998) and "The Reconstructionist" (2001). She died from cancer.
