Rhythm and Blues Singer. Born in Richmond, Virginia, he was a popular R&B vocalist best remembered for his multi-million-selling hit song "It's All in the Game" (1958). He began his career with US Billboard chart tunes "Gypsy Heart", "The Morning Side of the Mountain" and "All Over Again". Signing with MGM Records in 1958, he recorded a number of albums and hit singles to include "Love Is All We Need" (1958), "The Ways of Love" (1959), "It's Not the End of Everything" (1960), "Country Boy" (1963), "I Must Be Doing Something Wrong" (1966) and many more. He died of cirrhosis of the liver at age 47 in Henrico County, Virginia. In 2008, the Virginia Department of Historic Resources erected a historical highway marker in his honor in Henrico County.
