Added by Beverly: Charles Gilman Cheney was the son of Moses and Abigail (Morrison) Cheney. In the 1850 census Charles G. was age 24 residing with his parents in Holderness. Charles was a student at that time.
Charles went to Peterborough NH with his parents and graduated Dartmouth College 1848. He commenced practice as a lawyer in Franklin and because of ill health left the profession 1854 and was engaged as a cashier of the Peterborough Bank until 1862 when he resigned due to his health. Charles suffered from a rheumatic affliction. (History of Peterborough NH)
He married Sarah E. Smith Oct 25, 1851 and had a son Albert P. Cheney born Feb 2, 1853 who died at nine years of age. Birth record indicates born and died in Peterborough NH.
He died at Hillsborough Bridge NH, age36 yrs and 4 mos.
