Survived by his wife, Marge (Cawley), whom he married December 17, 1955; also by his children, Randy and Kevin Kuykendall, Susan Harless and JoLee Burns; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and brothers Blaine, Ray and Ernie Kuykendall.

Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Mary (Spitzer) Kuykendall, brothers Dorman, Bill, Hayes and Paul Kuykendall, and sisters Leoda Abendschoen and Juanita Snoots.

He retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years, and had served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of the John M. Golliday Post #64 American Legion in Moorefield.

He was also retired from the South Branch Valley Railroad.

He was a member of the Old Fields Baptist Church in Old Fields and was also a member of Gideons International.

After a long illness, he passed away on his 78th birthday at the E. A. Hawse Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Baker.
