Youngest son of COL Zebulon Pike and Issabella Brown Pike. Brother to Brigade General Zebulon Montgomery Pike, for whom Pike's Peak was named.

An entry in "Heitman's Register and Dictionary of the US Army" states that young G. W. Pike was a Cadet at the US Military Academy from 1808 to 1810. He died at West Point, NY shortly after being commissioned to 2Lt in January of 1812.

Records indicate that after his remains were returned to his family's home for burial, they were later moved from Pike-Gages Family Cemetery, in Feb 1868, and re-interred to his present resting place in the Greendale Cemetery - located Section C, No 1.
