James H. Mayfield

James H. Mayfield, 85 of 557 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport, a retired District Supt. of the Hope Natural Gas Co., died in a local hospital October 21, 1970 at 3:15 a.m., following a ten year illness.

He was born at Conoway, W. Va., April 18, 1885, a son of the late William E. and Florence Henderson Mayfield.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ina Brown Mayfield; one son: William W. Mayfield, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two brothers: Earl L. Mayfield, Parkersburg; William R. Mayfield, Vienna; three sisters: Mrs. Jay Dillon, Miami, Fla., Mrs. Gerthrude Booher, Parkersburg; Mrs. Henry Wildman, Middle-bourne; seven grandchildren; Michael Mayfield, Columbia, SC; Genie Mayfield, Ft. Lauderdale; Mrs. Lewis Mitchell, Hollywood, Fla., James and Steven Jones, both of Richmond, VA; Mark and Kathryn Jones, both of So. Charleston

Preceding him in death were one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Gene) Jones, April 18, 1970; two brothers, Harley of Smithburg and Roy Mayfield of Iuka, W. Va.

Mr. Mayfield was a member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church and the Bridgeport Lions Club. Friends may call at the Davis Funeral Home, 443 West Pike Street, after 2:00 p.m. Thursday, where Funeral services will be held Friday, October 23 at 2:30 p.m. The Reverend Dr. Jennings East, Pastor of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church will officiate.
