Gardner Burgett, age 89 of Richmond, KY formerly of Morgan County, KY passed away Monday, June 20, 2011, at Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Ky.
He was born February 6, 1922, in Magoffin County, Ky., a son of the late William Burgett and Nancy Willims Burgett.
He was a retired farmer and United States Army Veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Alta Howard Burgett, one daughter, Deloris Burgett, four sisters, three brothers, and two grandsons.
Surviving are three daughters, Wilma and Tommy Hudgins of Georgetown, Ky., Charlene and Bobby Tevis of Richmond,Ky., and Nancy and Johnny Hopper of Winchester, Ky., two sons, William and Joyce Burgett of West Liberty, Ky., and Harold Burgett of Eufala, Alabama, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, a host of neices and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel, with Bro. Jimmie Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Millard Cemetery in Bloomington, Kentucky. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by Morgan County D.A.V Chapter #132.
Visitation after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty, Ky.
Pallbearers: Thomas Hudgins, Earl Reece, James Stacy, Darvin Mounce, Kelly McKinney, Bobby Tevis, Eulas Hammons and James Perkins.
