Owen Lee Agee was the son of John and Mary Elizabeth Thornton Agee. The Agee and Thornton families originally came to Oregon by wagon trains from Missouri in the 1850s, settling in Yamhill County. Between 1867 and 1889, John and Mary had twelve children: Leetia, Otto, Lucretia, Theodosia, John, Zopher, Emma, Owen, Ray, Roy, Kathyrn and Bertha. In 1868, John and Mary moved their family to Wilbur, Douglas Co., Oregon, where John was a farmer.

Owen married Grace M. Giles (b. Wisconsin 1885-1974) on June 6, 1907 in Amity, Yamhill Co. They had the following six children: Hazel (Huffman, Clarke), Dora (Nobach), Lynn Leroy, Marjorie (Young), John W. and Jessie (Johnson).

Before he died, Owen Agee was a retired sawyer from the Guy Roberts Lumber Mill in Toledo, OR. Census records show the family in Damascus, Clackamas Co, OR in 1910, and in Toledo, Lincoln County, 1920 and 1930. WWI Draft Registration shows Owen in Hillsboro from 1942 and until his death (obituary) in 1964.
