Mary Curlee Abell

AMERICUS -- Mrs. Mary C. Abell, 89, of 2001 S. Lee St., Americus died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb.11 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Dr. Harris Malcolm officiating. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

A native of Chattahoochee County, Mrs. Abell was born Dec. 20, 1914, a daughter of the late John Thomas Curlee and Sara McKenzie Curlee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Dozier Abell.

Memorial contributions may be made to The League of the Good Samaritan, 2001 S. Lee St., Americus GA 31709; Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 502 S. Lee St., Americus GA 31709; The Legacy Building Fund, Byne Memorial Baptist Church, 2832 Ledo Road, Albany or to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 221 S. Lee St., Americus GA 31709. Friends may call at the residence of Leonard and Joyce Abell, 1907 Rose Ave.

Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law, Sue Cashwell and Milton H. Sr., and Elizabeth Hunley, all of Americus and Alice Vinson of Leesburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard H. Abell and Joyce of Americus and John R. Abell and Frances of Camilla; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
