U.S. Congressman. He attended Niagara University, engaged in the general merchandising business (1915-29) and town supervisor of Amherst, New York, (1930-33). In 1933, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third Congress and to the next two succeeding Congresses, serving until 1939. After his term, he was assistant to the Secretary of the Interior, (1939-40) and elected to the Seventy-seventh Congress, serving (1941-43). He then owned a feed business (1944-48), president of the National Customs Service Association, (1949-61) and Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Treasury Department, Washington, D.C., (1961-64). Leaving politics, he moved to Florida and lived in retirement until his death at age 79.
