Mary Lindley Welch was christened the 27th of March 1814 in Blyth Parish which is on the border of Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire as Maria Linley born July the 5th 1813 to Thomas Linley and his wife Mary Briggs Linley. Mary Maria married Thomas Welch about 1834 in England. They immigrated to Canada and settled near Newtonville in the Clarke Township of Durham. They had 14 children and 10 are known, George, Thomas, Edward, Francis, Ann Jane, Mary Ann, Harriet, Elizabeth, Albert and Maria.
