Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was a Brevet Colonel in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Major in the 90th Pennsylvania Infantry for action on July 1, 1863 at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. His citation reads "Voluntarily led the regiment under a withering fire to a position from which the enemy was repulsed."
