US Congressman. Moving with his parents to Maine, in 1822, he later engaged in lumber operations, plus in agricultural and mercantile pursuits. He served in the Maine State House of Representatives, (1832-33, 39-42) and the Maine State Senate, in 1843 and was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-eighth Congress, serving (1844-45). He then again served in the Maine State House of Representatives, (1848-49, 62), plus the Maine State Senate, (1850-53) and resumed his previous business interests until his death at age 61.
