US Congressman. He was born to Major Robert Wilson and Phebe Berry Wilson in Peterborough, New Hampshire, was educated locally and then relocated to Cambridge, Massachusetts, to attend Harvard University and graduated from there in 1799. After his graduation, he studied law and was admitted to the bar in his native Peterborough, New Hampshire, in 1802. He moved to Belfast, Maine, which was then a part of the State of Massachusetts shortly thereafter and commenced to practicing law. During this time he served as a Captain in the Massachusetts State Militia. He then ran for a seat in the United States Congress and was elected. A Federalist, he then served Massachusetts's 4th District and as At-Large (Thirteenth and Fifteenth Congress) in the United States House of Representatives from 1813 to 1815, and 1817 to 1819. He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Fourteenth Congress in 1814. He was also an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1818. After his term in the United States Congress had expired on March 3, 1819, he returned to Belfast, Maine, where he resumed his law practice until his death at the age of 61.
