US Congressman. Born in Cushing, Maine, he engaged in seafaring, mercantile pursuits and was a member of the Maine State Senate, (1836-37). In 1838, he was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-fifth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Jonathan Cilley, serving until 1839. After his term, he returned to his mercantile pursuits, plus banking and shipbuilding until his death at age 60 in Thomaston, Maine.
