Ephriam is the son of Roswell and Lucy Sarah (Ruggs) Powers. He married Mary Jane Landon, Nov. 16, 1848 in Richmond Township (Ashtabula Co.), OH. They had at least 7 children: William, Charles, Daniel, Mary Ellen, Ida May, Ephriam, and an unk. named infant.

Ephriam and Mary Jane were one of the first settlers in Oceana Co., MI. He owned and operated the Powers' Saw & Grist Mill along the White River in Oceana Co. Ephriam was, also, a cabinet maker at his mill.

Ephriam was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Ferry and the church's Sunday School Superintendent.

Ephriam died from pneumonia.
