Charles Wesley Powers is the son of Ephriam Woodruff and Mary Jane (Landon) Powers. He married Amelia V. Rice, Jan. 1, 1879 in Ferry, MI. They had a daughter, Gertrude Laurel Powers.
Charles was a miller in the Powers' Family Saw & Grist Mill in Ferry and also owned a General Mercantile Business while living in Ferry. Charles and Amelia moved out to Olla (La Salle Parish), LA abt. 1917, along with their daughter and her husband (Jonathan Critchett) to farm. Charles and Jonathan discovered oil on the farm and engaged in drilling after that.
Charles was a Methodist and active within his church. He's buried next to his wife, Amelia, in the Ferry Cemetery.
