U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Amherst College Massachusetts, in 1907, and then engaged in literary and editorial pursuits. He moved to New York City in 1912 and became successful in the magazine and advertising business. In 1937, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-fifth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Theodore A. Peyser, was reelected to the Seventy-sixth Congress, serving until 1941. An unsuccessful candidate for election, he resumed advertising business and authored several books until his death at age 80.
