U.S. Congressman. Born in Centreville, Mississippi, he attended Centenary College Louisiana, Vanderbilt University Tennessee and engaged in agricultural pursuits. He was a member of the Mississippi State House of Representatives, (1887-93), school commissioner of Wilkinson County, a member of the board of trustees of the Agricultural and Mechanical College and of Edward Magehee College. In 1909, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-first and Sixty-second Congresses, serving until 1913. After his term, he elected supervisor of the third district of Wilkinson County and engaged in agricultural pursuits. He died at age 78 in Centreville, Mississippi.
