Frederick George Barry

U.S. Congressman. During the Civil War, he served as a Private in Company E, 8th Confederate Cavalry. After the war, he studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in West Point, Mississippi. He was a member of the Mississippi State Senate, (1875-79). In 1885, he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-ninth and Fiftieth Congresses, serving until 1889. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 64. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
