(Mary) Corinna was the daughter of John Motley Morehead, governor of North Carolina from 1841-1845, and Ann Eliza Lindsay. She married William Waightstill Avery. They had five children: John Morehead, William Waightstill,Anne Harriet, Corinna Morehead, and Adelaide Matilda.
