Mrs. Padegett Passes Away In Indianapolis

Mrs. Elizabeth Padgett, age 76 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bammie Ocheltree, in Indianapolis, Saturday morning, following an illness of complications. Mrs. Padgett resided at the corner of Wayne and Montgomery streets in this city and had been in Indianapolis with her daughter the past three weeks.

She is survived by the daughter and one sister, Mrs. James K. Smith, southwest of Spencer.

The body was brought to Spencer Saturday and funeral services were held at the Christian church, conducted by Rev. M.V. Foster. Interment was in Riverside cemetery**.

Mrs. Elizabeth Padgett
1851-1928

Mrs. Elizabeth Raper, daughter of James L. and Nancy Cline Raper, was born near Spencer, September 23, 1851. She was one of a family of four children, one brother and one sister preceding her in death, and one sister, Mrs. J.K. Smith, surviving. She united with the church in January, 1874. She loved the church and was faithful in her attendance as long as her health permitted.

In October, 1875, she was married to Samuel A. Padgett. They were the parents of one daughter, at whose home she passed away August 4, 1928.

She leaves one sister, Mrs. Smith, her daughter, Mrs. Bammie Ocheltree, two grandsons and one great-grandchild, also a host of friends, for all who knew her loved her. Life's journeys with its trials is over.

"On the jasper threshold standing,
Like a pilgrim safely landing,
See the strange bright scene expanding,
Oh, 'tis heaven at last.
