A native of Montreal, Laurence was the oldest child of Albert Langlois and Aurore Paquette. In her youth, she took a job working at Stuart's cakes and later worked briefly at Compagnie Jeans Beacon and as a cleaning lady at Hydro-Quebec. In 1940 she married the love of her life, future Montreal firefighter Albert Lacasse, and they remained happily devoted to each other for the next 59 years until his passing in 1999. After 12 years apart, they were finally reunited to be together again when she passed away at the age of 91. She is greatly loved and missed by her six children, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
