Obituary of Mary Boyer
Wadena Pioneer Journal – August 10, 1967
Mrs. Mary Boyer, 73, succumbed Thursday morning, August 3, from a heart attack at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Sommars of rural Verndale, Minnesota.
Rosary and prayer service was held at the Folkestad Funeral Home in Wadena at 9:00 p.m. August 4, with Rev. Ralph Schmelzer officiating. Funeral services were held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Torrance, California August 7, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Redondo Beach, California.
Mary Ludovissie was born April 27, 1894 in Hospers, Iowa to Margaret and Theodore Ludovissie, the youngest of three children of that marriage. She was united in marriage to Hugo Boyer , January 26, 1915 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena. They resided in the Wadena, Verndale and Staples area for many years and made their final move to California in June of 1943. She is survived by her husband and all of her 12 children: Mrs. Arnold (Marcella) Brockpahler, New Richmond, Wisconsin; Michael Boyer, Yorba Linda, California; Henry Boyer, La Mirada, California; Mrs. Cliff (Mary Ann) Mouston, Torrance, California, Mrs. Newton (Bernice) Pope, Long Beach, California; Mrs. Robert (Cecilia) Sommars, Verndale; Mrs. Angel (Doris) Ramirez, Pico Rivera, California; Mrs. Sam (Donna) Montalbano, La Puente, California; Brother Ignatius, O.S.M. (Frank) Capuchin Brothers, Cumberland, Maryland; Mrs. Bob (Lorraine) Maher, Artesia, California; Mrs. Jim (Shirley) Loberg, Anaheim, California; Jo Ann Boyer, Torrance, California; and by 31 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by three half sisters, Mrs. Joe Lorentz and Mrs. Pete Richter of Wadena and Mrs. George Krause of California and two half brothers: Frank Hopp of Wadena and James Hopp of California.
