U.S. Congressman. He attended Anglo-Saxon School France, Heathcote School New York, the Art Students League New York City and engaged as a art designer in 1916. During World War I, he served in the Depot Battalion, 7th New York Infantry, in 1917 and overseas with the Camouflage Section, 40th U.S. Army Engineers, (1918-19). After the war, he located to Old Lyme, Connecticut, engaged in architectural pursuits, was a member of the Old Lyme Board of Education, (1926-38) and served in the Connecticut State House of Representatives, (1927-37). In 1939, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-sixth Congress, serving until 1941. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his former business pursuits until his death at age 47.
