Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. Born August Doerle, he immigrated to America and enlisted into the Union Army, serving as a Private in Company B, 1st Louisiana Cavalry. On April 11, 1865, in actions at Mount Pleasant, Alabama, Private Dorley captured the flag of the Confederates. For bravery in the face of the enemy, he was awarded the Medal of Honor. He died at age 25 in Natchez, Mississippi.
