U.S. Congressman. Moving to America with his parents in 1873, he graduated from Beloit Academy Wisconsin, in 1890, then moved to Everett, Washington, in 1894 and engaged in the lumber business. He was Mayor Everett, (1897-98), a member of the Washington State House of Representatives, (1904-08) and served in the Washington the State Senate, (1909-12). In 1913, he was elected as a Progressive to the Sixty-third Congress, serving until 1915. After leaving Congress, he was in the ship-brokerage business in New York City, (1915-19), then moved to New Mexico, in 1925, where engaged in the oil and gas industry, until his death at age 59.
