US Congressman. Elected to represent Michigan's 6th District and as an at-large member in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1913 to 1923. Also served as a member of the Michigan State Board of Education from 1901 to 1905, Michigan Superintendent of Public Instruction from 1905 to 1906, and Lieutenant Governor of Michigan from 1907 to 1910.
