European Royalty. Daughter of King Constantine I of Greece and Princess Sophie of Prussia, she was born Katherine zu Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, Princess of Greece and Denmark. Her grandfathers were King George I of Greece and German Emperor Frederick III. The princess spent much of her early life in and out of exile after the assassination of her Greek grandfather, living variously in Switzerland, Sicily, Florence, Crete, Egypt and South Africa. She was educated in England and volunteered for the Greek Red Cross during World War II nursing the wounded under the name Sister Katherine. After her marriage to a British Artillery officer she lived for awhile in Baghdad but eventually settled in England where King George VI granted her the style of Lady Katherine Brandram. She was the last surviving great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria.Born in the royal palace in Athens, Princess Ekaterini of Greece & Denmark was the 3rd daughter & 6th child of king Constantine I, of Greece & Sophie of Prussia.
She remained a Greek Princess.
