Nellie was born 10 Nov 1879 in Spirit Lake, IA, the second child of Wilbur Fisk Pillsbury and Emily Clara Dicken Pillsbury.

Nellie married Charles Edwin Martin 27 Nov 1906 in Mason City, Cerro Gordo county, IA. After their marriage, Nellie and Charles moved to Aberdeen, SD. In 1910 Nellie's parents and brother, Herbert, were living with them there. In 1912 their only child, Arleen Emily was born. (Arleen married the well known Curtis Carlson and the large gravestone includes the Carlson name. Arleen, however, is not buried with her parents but in another location in the same cemetery.) By 1930 they had moved to Minneapolis, where they lived the rest of their lives.

Nellie was buried at Lakewood Cemetery 12 Mar 1963.
