Jewell was the daughter of George B. and Ethel (Price) Younger. She married James Peyton Graeber Sr. in 1944 and they were the parents of three children: Gay Grafton, Ethel and James Peyton Jr.

JEWELL YOUNGER GRAEBER, 88, died Friday, August 12, 2011 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee surrounded by her family. Mrs. Graeber was born in Alexandria, Louisiana May 12, 1923 to George B. and Ethel Price Younger. She attended Bolton High School and Gulf Park College. She met and married the love of her life, James P. Graeber, June 10, 1944. Following World War II they moved to Marks, MS. Mrs. Graeber was active in many community activities including Girl Scouts and the Nature Conservancy. Her great pleasure was assembling and exhibiting the Younger Foundation's 18th century Neopolitan creche collection at the Mississippi Museum of Art for the children of Mississippi. She was a member of the Marks Presbyterian Church for over 65 years and was instrumental in the establishment of the Church Founders Garden. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening. She was predeceased by her husband James P. Graeber, her parents, and sister, Georgie Y. Fisher. Survivors include: daughters, Gay Graeber Stubbs and Jack Stubbs of Oxford, Ethel Graeber Gibbes and George Gibbes of Columbia, SC, son James P. "Skip" Graeber and Gwen Graeber of Clarksdale; grandchildren James Miller (Liz), Joel Miller (Cori), Paige Harris (Ricky), Peyton Graeber (Robin), Jason Graeber (Karem), Eric Graeber (Shea), Madelyn Marley (Thornton), Julie Gibbes and Georgia Gibbes and fourteen great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is also survived by her dear friend, Lil Carson of Marks. Services will be at the Marks Presbyterian Church, Monday, August 15 at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m at the church with Dr. Laurie Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Marks Cemetery.
