U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Worcester County Manual Training School and became successful in the manufacturing business. He served as president of the Roxbury City Council, (1846-48) and was Mayor of Roxbury Massachusetts, in 1854. In 1855, he was elected as a candidate of the American Party to the Thirty-fourth Congress and as a Republican to the Thirty-fifth Congress, serving until 1859. After leaving Congress, he resumed manufacturing pursuits until his death at age 75.
