SHELBYVILLE -John H. Jordan, 78, of Shelbyville died 1:50 p.m. Tuesday (June 23, 1992) in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Locust Grove Church, rural Assumption. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, rural Assumption. Memorials: Locust Grove Church.

Mr. Jordan was born in Shelby County on Jan. 12, 1914, son of Lloyd and Alta Gregory Jordan. He was an employee of the Decatur Signal Depot until 1952, when he started farming in the rural Moweaqua area. He was a member of the Locust Grove Church, Shelby County Farm Bureau, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 146 and the Effingham Masonic Lodge 149. He was a pilot in the Army Air Corp during World War II.

He married Eileen Richars on Dec. 30, 1939. She died on April 19, 1972. He married Harriett Kirkpatrick Howe on June 10, 1973. She died on Dec. 10, 1988. He married Doris Pierce Brown on Dec. 29, 1990.

Surviving are his wife; son, John R. Jordan of Moweaqua; daughters, Mrs. Bill (Susan) Moore of Warrensburg; Mrs. Kenny (Nancy) Morris of Rochester; stepdaughters, Mrs. David (Patty) Kensil of Shelbyville; Mrs. Mike (Karen) Wiley of Springfield; Mrs. Brad (Teresa) Roberts of Shelbyville; brother, Gerald of Moweaqua; sister, Mrs. Noble (Mary) Adams of Warrensburg; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild. Four grandchildren preceded him in death.
