Character Actor. Liam Dunn is best remembered as Rev. Johnson in Mel Brooks' film "Blazing Saddles." Dunn was born in New Jersey and began his career as a casting director before moving into television acting, appearing in such shows as "Bonanza" and "Room 222." It was his role as the judge in Peter Bogdanovich's 1972 film "What's Up Doc?" that drew him to the attention of Brooks, who subsequently cast him in "Blazing Saddles" (1974), "Young Frankenstein" (1974) and "Silent Movie" (1976). Dunn continued to appear in both television and film roles until his death from emphysema in 1976 at the age of 59.
