U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Dartmouth College, in 1806 and taught school at Salisbury, New Hampshire, (1806-08). He studied law, was admitted to the bar, commenced to practice in Salisbury, moved to Boston, Massachusetts, in 1819 and continued to practice Law. In 1837, he was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-fifth Congress, serving until 1839. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he served as a judge of the supreme court of Massachusetts, (1848-53).
