Dorothy A. Essman, 71, of Streator, died at 3:53 a.m. Wednesday August 17, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator.

Funeral services for Dorothy Essman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday August 20, 2011 at the Elias Funeral Home in Streator. The Rev. Bill Niebuhr will officiate and also conduct graveside services at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Streator. Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Duncan, Dan Dudak, Gary Essman, Gary Ballock, John Essman Jr. and Travis Essman.

Visitation for Dorothy Essman will be from 9 - 11 a.m. Saturday at the Elias Funeral Home.

Born December 26, 1939 in Streator, IL, she was the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Dudak) Ballock Sr. She married Louis Essman on June 21, 1958, he survives.

She is survived by her husband Louis, son Ron of Streator, sister Leona (James) DeBernardi of Naplate and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Lucille Ballock and brothers Andrew Ballock Jr., and George Ballock.

She lived in Streator all of her life, she was a former member of St. Stephen's Church and currently a member of St. Michael the Arch Angel in Streator. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary both in Streator.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Donor's Choice.
